EDRG 3321 Courtney Holley Ch. 6

Chapter 6 is all about traditional literature. What is traditional literature? From page 123 in our book you will see that traditional literature is " the written form of stories that are part of the oral tradition of a culture". An example of this would be stories that have a moral, they were told to children so that they would do the right thing and stay out of trouble. Now days we have taken those stories that over time would have been told orally and put them into a format. This format usually includes: Plot, setting, characterization, style, theme, motifs, and variants. These are the key parts to having what we would consider a good form of traditional literature. Traditional literature is a great type of literature to have in in your classroom library and you should have a wide selection of traditional literature for the students to choose from. By doing this you will keep your students interested reading!!
